Craving a refreshing smoothie now that the winter is over and the weather is getting warmer? I think I found the perfect combination of fruits for such a smoothie. It is rich and creamy yet not too sweet – and it’s an amazing source of vitamins too!
It all started when -after months- I finally found a nice looking mango at the market hall yesterday. Oh I was so excited! As soon as I got home I cut and chopped it – oh well, it’s nowhere near the ones I had in Taiwan, but it’ll do. I decided to make a smoothie of it. And then this morning when I was looking for a nice pineapple -which I didn’t find- I saw they had strawberries on sale that I just couldn’t leave there. And that’s how my originally planned tropical smoothie turned into a mango berry one.
- Mango, chopped
- Orange juice (1/2 cup)
- Ice cold water (1 cup)
- Protein powder (half serving)
There is nothing easier then throwing a smoothie together. I chopped all the fruits – I didn’t really measure them though. For the smoothie I used half of a bigger banana, and a handful of the mango, strawberry and raspberry. And if I already prepared everything anyway, I put some chopped fruits in a plastic bag and threw it in the freezer – this way next time I just gotta add the liquids, blend and my drink will be ready!
The good thing is that you don’t have to use milk or greek yoghurt to make the smoothie creamy – the banana and the protein powder does the job without making it feel too heavy and keeping its refreshing character. For the protein powder I used half serving of Scitec’s Vanilla Very Berry. I love this flavour and it nicely complements this smoothie! And also, you can get this on in one-serving-packets which I really like.
